European Championships

The European Touch Championships is the premier biannual tournament in Europe. The competition involves most of the European nations; who will all compete for the coveted European trophy. In addition invitational teams travel from far and wide to attend.

The 2014 European Touch Championships are programmed to take place on 6th to 10th August, and be held at Swansea University. We expect the first ever Junior Category to be held the two days prior to this, starting mid morning on Tuesday 5th August. (Please note that no Championship points are available for the Junior Category in its first year).

The European Touch Championships 2012 took place on the 12th to the 16th September 2012 in the northern Italian city of Treviso. Fixtures and results can be found on the website of the championships.

Further results can be found here: ETC2012 Overall Results and ETC2012 Finals Results.

These Championships involved 900 players, 53 teams, and 70 referees from across Europe. It is anticipated that these numbers will increase for the 2014 Championships as countries look to send additional teams, and more countries get involved. The Host Nation is yet to be decided.

Prior to this the 2010 European Championships were in Brostol, England and the 2008 European Championships were held in Massy, France

Message from the FIT Secretary General

The European Touch Championships event has developed over recent times to become the most important competition for national representative teams in the European region. From both a global and Federation perspective development of the sport in Europe has become more significant than anywhere in the world. This clearly reflects the commitment to the sport of many volunteers in regional Member countries. That dedication, support and effort is acknowledged and appreciated by the FIT Board and the wider international Touch community.

I have had the privilege of meeting many office bearers, team officials, players and other participants from competing European countries over the past two years and I am aware of the planning, preparation and training effort that is required to ready your national teams for this elite competition. I look forward to renewing and establishing friendships in late September and wish all involved a sound and successful preparation for the 2012 European Touch Championships.
